what do you want to be when you grow up?

that is by far the most common composition question for young children, one which allows their imagination to flow freely and answer things like - i want to be the chef, i want to be a pilot, i want to be a scientist etc. my mom once babysitted a P1 kid and he told me right in my face that he hopes to become a president. well, the hard truth will soon dawn upon him. my P2 student just told me that she wants to be an Art teacher, she's the sane one. i wanted to be a teacher, but like what my GP teacher said, that's probably the most ubiquitous answer coming from most kids, since the professions they know of are either that of their parents' or a teacher. true that.

as we grow up, we draw towards the realisation that these dreams get more and more far-fetched, simply because we are not born/made to do certain professions. perhaps we are just meant to work like cows, receive our fixed meagre monthly paycheck and never be able to act #likeaboss.

now, as i enter the last phase of my education, (yes finally after almost 2 decade), this question becomes seemingly pressing. what do i really want to be?

i dont know.

tsk. because i never had one in mind and i never work towards being anything at all.

sometimes, its good to have a dream. if you havent already had one, start building one.

back to studying and hopefully good grades can assure me a satisfactory job. and by that i dont mean satisfying just my basic needs of bread and butter.
